Another very successful End of Season Awards night was held at the Chalkwell Park Rooms on the evening of 22nd April.
Hosted by Shrimpers Trust Board Member, Paul Hill, who said it was ” a night to celebrate everything that makes Southend United special,” he paid tribute to the dedication of the supporters who follow the Club in such huge numbers across the country, and said that with the new stability and integrity behind the Club’s new ownership we should have a belief in a bright future.
Vice Chairman of the Shrimpers Trust, Paul Yeomanson, welcomed everyone to the event, and introduced Trust members in attendance who had completed a 55km walk from Braintree Town to Roots Hall overnight on the evening of Thursday, 17th/Friday, 18th April to raise money for five local charities. He reminded attendees that sponsorship is still open, and can be made on the Shrimpers Trust website here.
He also thanked Trust Board Members, Kelly Bolton and Kay Fogg respectively for their help with the administration for the walk and for providing the walkers with a hot breakfast at Battlesbridge on the Friday morning.

Paul then introduced Junior Blues member, Lucas Monk, who was presenting the final Shrimpers Trust Player of the Month Award, for April. This award was presented to Harry Taylor.

Moving on to the Tom Grace Memorial Shield, presented to the Youth Team, Tom’s father, Len, was welcomed to the stage along with Danny Heath. The winner of this award was Jack Stone, with Sisanda Maguranyanga in 2nd place and Mitchell Ward in 3rd place.
The Southend United Ladies Player of the Season Award went to Reyes Humble, with Vicky Kinsman in 2nd place and Hannah Smith in 3rd.

The Junior Blues Player of the Season was the next award, with Junior Blues member, Harry Blenes, presenting the award.
Harry had been selected from all those Junior Blues who had voted, to present the award. For the 2nd year in succession, this award went to Gus Scott-Morriss.


Zoe Cranmer was then invited to the stage to present the Martin Cranmer Goal of the Season Award, which went to Gus Scott-Morriss for his goal against Woking.
The final award of the evening was the main Player of the Season Award, which was presented by Head Coach, Kevin Maher.
In 3rd place was popular midfielder, James Morton, in 2nd place our defensive stalwart, Harry Taylor, and with a clean sweep of the awards, in 1st place, was Gus Scott-Morriss.


After photos, Kevin addressed the audience emphasizing the importance of the contribution of the Shrimpers Trust and its supporters.
